Special Opportunities for Service

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

The Project this week was to learn a variety of ways we are given the opportunity to serve others and to celebrate special occasions.

Making a Pumpkin Roll, a Meringue Pie, Tarts, and a Rustic Tart are some of the baking skills we practiced this week.

Hospitality in the Church

Studying from the book of James this week we learned from interactions

of the early church how to practice hospitality in the church.

Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn thfreeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be carefuthat when you get on each others nerves you dont snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out. The Message 1 Thessalonians 5:13-15

Bread is a language that connects every type of culture in the world. Our practical application was practicing different methods of making bread.

Hospitality through Kindness, Encouragement and Sharing

A kindhearted woman gains honor…Proverbs 11:16a  NIV

A gracious woman attains honor…Proverbs 11:16a  ESV

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.      Proverbs 31: 26 ESV

Our practical lesson today was learning how to be prepared to share. We practiced the procedures for waterbath canning choosing peaches and apples for jam and cherry juice for jelly.

These ladies are a joy to work with in the kitchen
as we learn new kitchen skills together.
Working together they have prepared wonderfully
tasty jam and jelly to share with others.
